DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2007

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. in the Hicksville Village Council Room, Hicksville, Ohio on Thursday, September 6, 2007.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas Kime and James E. Harris, Jr., Becky Wagner, Administrator, Cara Brown, Clerk.       

 

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, and discussed upcoming meetings and events.

 

Jane Tadsen, Defiance County Recorder, reported recording 199 Deeds, 236 Mortgages, 244 Releases, and 9 Power of Attorneys. The total of the month of August, 2007 was $30,216.90 of which $14,896.20 went toward the Housing Trust Fund and $15,320.70 went toward the General Fund.

 

Sherry Carnahan, Commissioners Office, met with the Commissioners and discussed starting a GovDeals Auction on the internet in 2008.

 

Becky Wagner, County Administrator presented her weekly update to the Board. Becky reported that the grass at Defiance County East has been fertilized and weed killer will be applied. The sign at the Defiance County Humane Shelter that was hit has been replaced. Ron Cereghin is getting quotes for the 4-H horse barn roof at the Defiance County fairgrounds.

 

Becky also reported that the Commissioner’s building dryvit has been repaired and painted and all the doors have been painted.

 

The Board of Commissioners then entered into Executive Session to discuss the hiring of personnel. Executive Session ended with no decisions being made.

 

Rita Kissner and Cindy Mack of Defiance Development & Visitors Bureau met with the Commissioners to discuss boat ramps in the downtown area as well as restrooms at Pontiac Park. The Commissioners authorized Ms. Kissner to speak with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources on these projects.

 

The Commissioners called Julie Rittenhouse, Director of Emergency Management, and authorized her to proceed with purchasing a used vehicle for the Emergency Management Agency.

 

Ron Cereghin is preparing for the County Auction on October 13, 2007 at Evergreen Lane Office Complex at 10:00 a.m.
