DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, JULY 14, 2014

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, July 14, 2014 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners’ Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and James E. Harris, Jr., Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

The Commissioners certified the June Solid Waste Disposal Submittal Forms for the Landfill facilities. Defiance Township, as the host government agency received $2,241.52. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) also received $1,487.82 for the construction & demolition debris (C&DD) waste. Monthly (MSW) Disposal fees paid to the Ohio EPA for the Defiance County Landfill was $31,524.08. The Four County Solid Waste District received $11,183.06.

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners to provide a weekly update. Warren informed the Board that the crew is replacing a culvert on Evansport Road north of Schick Road. Once that is completed, the crew will begin the replacement of a bridge at Freytag Road and Youngman Road.

 

Norm Tadsen, Orville Clark and Jamie Walters, Defiance County Master Gardeners, met with the Commissioners to discuss the community gardens located at Defiance County East. They requested permission to add another six plots to the garden, which the Commissioners approved.
