DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY,
JANUARY 25, 2016
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners
met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, January 25, 2016 in the
Conference Room in the Commissioners’ conference at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512. Commissioner Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners Ryan Mack and
Thomas L. Kime, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie
Metz, Clerk.
The Commissioners met in General Session and
approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The
Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming
meetings.
Based on the recommendation of DLZ
Architecture, the Commissioners awarded the bid for the Exterior Improvements
to the Defiance County Courthouse Project to the lowest bidder – Midwest
Contracting, Inc. of Holland,
Ohio.
Jerry Hayes and Jennifer Ort, Defiance
County Economic Development, met with the Commissioners to provide a monthly
update. Jerry informed the Board that a tour of Defiance Metal Products, Johns
Manville, and Keller Logistics for school guidance counselors and principals
has been scheduled in February.
Larry Hartman,
John Panico and Alex Renollet,
Mark Township Trustees, and Oscar Hernandez and Ron Clinger, Defiance County
General Health District, met with the Commissioners to discuss an E.coli issue
in Mark Center. The Commissioners will schedule another meeting with the
parties in the future to discuss the matter further and decide on next steps,
due to a lack of participation for the necessary dye testing by the residents
in Mark Center. The Commissioners have requested that the Defiance County
General Health District complete the dye tests for the remaining residents
north of the railroad tracks in Mark Center.
Greg Reinhart and
Jan Rethmel, Defiance County Wastewater Operations, met with the Commissioners
to provide a monthly update. Greg reported that in December there was
$59,417.34 billed out, $60,406.15 collected, and expenses of $196,669.31.
Julie Voll,
Defiance County Family & Children First, met with the Commissioners to
provide a quarterly update. Julie informed the Board that the Defiance County
Drug Free Coalition is filing for a 501c3 status and has elected officers of:
Les McCaslin, President; Jeff Slattery, Vice
President; and Jamie Gerken, Secretary/Treasurer. The new entity’s goal is to
help educate the community of drug and alcohol abuse.
Warren Schlatter,
Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners to provide a weekly
update.
The Commissioners
attended the Four County Solid Waste District Board of Directors meeting and
the Four County Joint Board meeting in Williams County.
