Services

Nutrition Programs

Defiance County Senior Services provides lunch in our cafe at both of our locations – our main center in Defiance and our outreach center in Hicksville. Senior Services is also a national member of Meals on Wheels of America and can provide hot delivered meals to your home! We offer frozen meals and therapeutic meals when medically necessary to any of our clients in the county. Our meals are approved by a licensed dietician who pays extra attention to sodium and carbohydrates to ensure a well balance meal. Our Client Resource Specialist will sit with you in our Defiance office or discuss your assessment and options with you on additional needs and to make you aware of available resources in our community.

Defiance County Senior Services also acts as a community hub for a commodities programs as well as the Farmer's Market coupon program. Transportation for grocery shopping are also available services. Transportation

Defiance County Senior Services provides transportation to all the citizens of Defiance County, 60 years or better, for medical appointments, therapy, grocery shopping and more. We also provide transportation to and from your home to Summit 60 Social Center. Summit 60 of Hicksville can provide the same service and will offer a shuttle service to Defiance on the days they are not open! Summit 60 Social Center Activities

We offer a wide variety of programs for the community whether your 60 or 160! From puzzles, cards and bingo to bus trips, baseball games and Casinos, our activities are designed to enlighten, enjoy and inspire.

Supportive Services

• Alzheimer's Support – Senior Services offers a confidential support group each month. The group meets the first Thursday of the month at 1:30pm.
  
• Medicare Assistance – Education and assistance is available to help in identifying Medicare insurance and drug plans
  
• Lunch and Learns – Monthly educational events held during lunch to help our community know about health, government and more!

Volunteer Opportunities @ Summit 60

We would love to have you come in and share your time and talents! Whether you have an hour a year or several hours each day – we'd love to talk with you about our volunteer opportunities.
