Cost to License your dog: $24.00 - Per Tag. $24.00 penalty applies to tags purchased after January 31st deadline for previously registered dogs. $120.00 – Kennel License covers five (5) dogs; plus a $1.00 for every dog over five(5). $120.00 penalty applies to tags purchased after January 31st deadline for previously registered dogs. A Kennel is defined as any pack or collection of dogs over the age of three months, kept together for the purpose of breeding or sale. (Ohio Revised Code 955.04)

THREE YEAR tags are available all year and are NOT transferrable to another dog or refundable. Cost for a three year license is $72.00 and can only be purchased at the Defiance County Auditor’s Office or online.

PERMANENT dog tags are available all year and are NOT transferrable to another dog or refundable. Cost for a Permanent license is $240.00. This license is good for the life of the dog which the license was purchased for. A Permanent license can only be purchased at the Defiance County Auditor’s Office or online.

Defiance County Dog licenses can also be purchased online by going to County Auditor’s website. NOTE: There is a fee for purchasing dog licenses on-line.

There is a $5.00 fee for replacement of a lost tag. There is a $5.00 fee for dog license transfer of ownership of previously registered dogs. Replacment fee for a lost tag is $5.00.

Please attach your dog's tag to its' collar immediately. This will help us identify it and get in touch with you should your dog get lost. It is Ohio law that all dogs must wear tags.
