2010 City Parks Clean Up
Jody Doyle has been the lead coordinator of the annual Clean up Your Park Day for FIFTEEN years. This is quite an accomplishment and shows Jody’s dedication to our community.
This event was held on March 20th. Jody Doyle and Christy Brown (City Parks) coordinated this event in conjunction with Defiance County Environmental Services. Sponsors of the event include Defiance County Environmental Services, Keep America Beautiful (KAB) - Great American Clean Up, Defiance City Parks, ServiceMaster and Moose Lodge.
Defiance Student Council cleaned up Triangle Park, and Girl Scout troops from Sherwood concentrated on Moats Park in Sherwood. Volunteers included all ages and sizes, several Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, college and high school athletes, Defiance Mayor Bob Armstrong, City Councilman Daryl Handy, Tennis Coach Tim Call, City Parks Service Director Rob Cereghin, City employees, County employees and multiple community neighbors. Participation was tremendous with 380 volunteers! That is double 2009’s effort. Volunteers enjoyed the sunny Saturday, camaraderie and got their hands dirty for a great community project!
More park locations were cleaned this year. They include: Bronson, Kingsbury, Diehl, Latty’s Grove, Pontiac, Triangle Park, Moats Park and Defiance Fort Grounds.
