2016 City Parks Clean Up
The City Park Clean Up was held on April 23. The weather was perfect with sunny skies and little wind.
This event collected 68 bags of trash, 3 tires, 2 bags of glass and 5 bags of metal. This event was a success due to the participation of 361 volunteers! Students from local high schools, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and church groups joined the local residents to tackle each park.
The parks included: Kingsbury, Latty Grove, Diehl, Fort Grounds, Pontiac, Triangle, Bronson, Riverside and the Reservoir.
The City Park crews maintained the trash cans and hauled leaves and branches. Volunteers with rakes, brooms, or shovels pitched in to get the park ready for use!
Sponsors for the T-shirts and food were provided by City Beverage, Moose Lodge No. 2094, Servicemaster Clean, Defiance Optimist International Club and Defiance County Environmental Services KAB. Christy Brown (City Parks) coordinates this event every year and it is a success due to the volunteers and the flawless organization.
